Makeup Must Haves

As a makeup artist, I'm constantly trying out new products. As a result, I tend to chop and change my daily makeup routine quite often. My primary focus is always on using quality products that are effective in creating a flawless, radiant makeup look. My current makeup routine is simple and quick. I want to look natural yet polished, so I use the following products: Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation This is a great full coverage foundation that can be easily buffed into the skin. This creates a flawless but very natural base. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard This evens skin tone and balances any pigmentation, while covering and diminishing any blemishes and imperfections. This is one of the best concealers on the market as it is designed to last. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Powder in Natural This is a lovely finishing powder that really sets the foundation and holds everything in place throughout the day. MAC Blush in Well Dressed This blush

An Alternative to Botox – The Guinot Hydradermie Facial at Sam McCauley’s

I think it's safe to say that we love our beauty treatments in Ireland. It's also probably true to say that most women of a certain age have definitely contemplated Botox at some stage. It's a sign of the times, and Botox seems to be the remedy of choice for people who have spent years neglecting the prevention process or for people who are looking for an easy way to take the years off. However, it is important to remember that there are anti-ageing treatments other than Botox. For instance, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles can be lessened by choosing to eat a healthy diet, by drinking 2 litres of water a day, by exercising regularly to reduce stress and worry and by sticking to the rules. You can also take the years off with the Guinot Hydradermie facial if the rules just aren't your thing and if Botox doesn't float your boat. I recently started having Guinot Hydradermie sessions in Sam McCauley's and wanted to review the treatment for you all, as I have found it is ama

The Best MAC Shadows for Green Eyes

After publishing my Best MAC Eyeshadows for Blue Eyes last week, a few of you were wondering if I would cover the best eyeshadows for green and blue-green eyes. I will cover these today and I will also run through the best products for hazel eyes. Green eyes can be accentuated with a variety of colours. Coppers, ambers, champagnes, browns, burgundies, plums and purples can all make green eyes pop. The colours that you should use depend entirely on the colours in your own eyes. Green eyes can very hugely in colour. Some green eyes have a tinge of blue, some have a hint of brown and some green eyes are just a stunning emerald green. While dazzling green eyes can look amazing with all of the above colours, I find that champagne colours and purples work beautifully with blue-green eyes and champagnes, coppers and browns can make hazel eyes sparkle. Here is a list of the best MAC eyeshadows to compliment your eye colour. For Blue-Green Eyes I definitely recommend the followi

My Top 3 Mascaras

If you've been reading my columns over the last few days, you'll have seen that I’ve been selecting my favourite makeup basics. While we’re on the subject of must-have makeup, let’s take a look at mascaras. No makeup look is complete without a brilliant mascara. It opens the eyes by adding length, volume and definition to the lashes and it makes the eyes really stand out. While there are several different types to choose from, from lash-extending to volumising to thickening, it can be quite hard to choose the right one to get the job done. Here are my die-hard favourites. I love a lot of NARS products and their ‘Larger Than Life’ Volumising Mascara is no different. The mascara ‘delivers volume and curl for high impact lashes.’ The brush is the main feature of this mascara. It is honeycomb shaped, which means it can pick up and apply enough product without it smudging or flaking. The formula is also quite rich and luxurious and it really coats and darkens the

My Top 3 Concealers

Let’s get back to basics! Recently, I reviewed my top three foundations, but no great foundation is complete without an amazing concealer. A concealer, to me, is like a little magic wand that corrects and erases blemishes, under eye circles and imperfections in a few simple strokes. It brightens the face and makes it appear even more flawless than with a foundation alone. My top concealer has got to be the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer, which lasts for an astounding 15 hours! It delivers medium coverage, which helps achieve that flawless complexion. The lightweight formula goes on seamlessly and doesn’t crease due to its transfer-resistant, colour-true formula. Although the formula is oil free, it is really blendable because the concealer is infused with vitamins and emollients which nourish and condition the skin. I highly recommend this! It really is budge proof makeup. Secondly, I love the Dior Diorskin Nude Skin Perfecting Hy

My Top Three Foundations

Foundation plays such an important role in your makeup routine. It evens the complexion and conceals pigmentation. It's not always easy, however, to find a foundation to match your skin type or one that matches your skin tone. Don't worry, I'm here to help! Here is a list of my top three foundations with reviews on coverage, skin type and shade selection. Laura Mercier Candleglow Luminous Foundation is a gorgeous foundation for those who like sheer to medium finish with buildable coverage. This foundation’s lightweight formula creates a dewy luminous glow and is ideal for occasion or bridal makeup. I would recommend you set this with a translucent powder. This may not be the best foundation for oily skin as it might be a bit too dewy, but it is cosmogenic, so it’s guaranteed to keep your pores clean. The product comes in some pretty packaging which adds to its appeal. There are 24 shades to choose from and if you are between shades, always opt for the lighter one

A Couple’s Day Out at the Fota Island Hotel

A few weeks ago, myself and himself decided to visit the 5* Fota Island Hotel, Cork, for a day of pampering and indulgence. We arrived at the stunning resort, which is majestic at any time of year. It is surrounded by woodlands and nature, and the scenery is just beautiful. The hotel itself is exquisite with impeccable attention to detail throughout. It features a lot of rich wood, polished floors, fine furnishings and opulent decor. It's quite lavish and is the perfect place for a relaxing spa break. Our spa experience was fab! We booked in for the half day Glowing Getaway treatment which includes a Comfort Zone Recover Touch Antioxidant Facial. This was so nourishing. My skin was velvety soft and hydrated after the treatment. It looked so healthy and radiant. I can see why they call it a 'Glowing Getaway'! The package also included a luxury manicure or a luxury pedicure, which was a nice touch. After our treatments, we lounged around in the relaxation room and had full us
