My Top 3 Mascaras

If you’ve been reading my columns over the last few days, you’ll have seen that I’ve been selecting my favourite makeup basics. While we’re on the subject of must-have makeup, let’s take a look at mascaras. No makeup look is complete without a brilliant mascara. It opens the eyes by adding length, volume and definition to the lashes and it makes the eyes really stand out.

While there are several different types to choose from, from lash-extending to volumising to thickening, it can be quite hard to choose the right one to get the job done. Here are my die-hard favourites.

nars larger than life mascara

I love a lot of NARS products and their Larger Than Life’ Volumising Mascara is no different. The mascara ‘delivers volume and curl for high impact lashes.’

The brush is the main feature of this mascara. It is honeycomb shaped, which means it can pick up and apply enough product without it smudging or flaking. The formula is also quite rich and luxurious and it really coats and darkens the lashes to make the eyes smoulder. This can be tricky to remove, so I recommend purchasing it with the NARS Gentle Eye-makeup Remover.

Chanel le Volume Mascara

I also love the Le Volume de Chanel Waterproof Mascara. Chanel describe it as a ‘high-precision, waterproof mascara’ that ‘achieves instant volume and intensely lush colour in a single stroke.’

This really fills in the lashes and delivers excellent volume due to its Snowflake brush, which consists of longer and shorter bristles to allow all lashes to be reached and coated with mascara. This is a great mascara for opening up the eyes.

hypnose

My third and final favourite mascara is the Lancome Hypnose Mascara which is a great product for everyday usage. This promises to deliver 6 times more volume and the lashes are separated and thickened simultaneously upon application by its PowerFull brush.

When I need a bit more drama, or if I’m not wearing false eyelashes for a night out, I like to use the Hypnose Drama Mascara. The brush with this is thicker and more curvaceous, which instantly adds more volume and body to the lashes and drama to the eyes.

And those are my Top 3 mascaras. Which are your favourites? Will you be trying any of these? Let me know on Facebook or Instagram, or Tweet me @CarBourke.
